Happy Birthday Arijit Singh: Here's To Celebrating The Accomplished Singer, Talented Music Composer And A Down-To-Earth Human Being
Arijit Singh is celebrating his 34th birthday today, and on this occasion, here’s looking back at his journey from participating in the reality show Fame Gurukul to the mega-celebrity that he is today. Arijit Singh is one of the most iconic playback singers in Bollywood, who became an overnight sensation after his song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 turned out to be a superhit track. Despite being one of the most successful singers in recent years, Arijit continues to have his feet planted on the ground.

Arijit started his career through the reality show Fame Gurukul in which he finished 6th. He was only 18 years old back then. While he was on the show, he was noticed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who later had him sing ‘Yun Shabnami’ in his film Saawariya, however, that version of the song never released. He later participated in another reality show 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil and won the prize money of Rs 10 lakh, which he used for his recording studio. While his previous songs such as Phir Mohabbat, Raabta also grabbed attention, it was after Tum Hi Ho that he became widely known. There was no stopping him after that.

Despite all the fame and success, Arijit Singh is a shy personality, and in fact, doesn’t like all the attention. While speaking to Forbes in 2014, he had said, “I hate being a celebrity. I came into music because I loved it, not because I wanted to be famous. My singing career happened by fluke.” After the release of Tum Hi Ho, Arijit Singh was asked in an interview whether he bought a car with his first cheque. He mentioned then that he didn’t have a car and travelled by public transport to go for recordings.

Arijit Singh has come a far way since then, but his shy and humble nature hasn’t changed. We wish the soulful Arijit Singh a very Happy Birthday!
